Yes, quite a few countrys in the world are like that Ian. Unlike in our country, they have to prove they have not broken the law, in ours, the prosecution has to prove you have broken the law. Its the same in the US and Canada because they actually follow our British laws. In fact, much of the US constitution is born out of our laws.

Problem with the EU is that when they make the laws or the regulations that bind all 28 soon to be 27 countrys together its all worked out in secret. Everyone thinks its all worked out in the EU Parliament because that is how ours is worked out.

Nothing is further from the truth. It's the Commission that sits in secret that decides the laws they are going to bring in. They then send the laws all typed out neatly to all the MEPs offices. Farage actually let cameras into the offices at the EP of UKIP when he was the leader and showed how they do it. The paperwork they have to read before a vote on the law is phenomenal. They all have researchers working like little beavers trying to highlight what is going on and why they are bringing in this regulation or that regulation which are actually laws but its impossible to get through them in the little time they have before the vote.

In many cases, they are actually told by the commission to vote YES. It's a farce.

If Remainers knew half of the things that go on they would be shocked. However, to them, the EU can do no wrong.

What is life without a little controversy in it? Quite boring and sterile would be my answer.
