The Biden China Connection
Hunter Biden and China: Sorting through a murky business deal
In recent weeks, President Donald Trump and his allies have ratcheted up attacks against Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden. One line of attack isn’t new: a Chinese business deal involving Biden’s son Hunter. Trump is giving it additional weight amid his criticism of China for its early handling of the coronavirus.
In an interview with Fox Business’ Maria Bartiromo, Trump accused previous administrations of being soft on China.
THEN In an interview that aired Sunday on Fox News Channel’s “The Next Revolution,” President Donald Trump warned that “China is working hard” to get Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden elected.
Trump told host Steve Hilton that China “owns” Biden and will “own our country” with Biden in the White House.
Six months ago, the Chinese walked away from the trade negotiations.
The move caught nearly everyone by surprise.
After all, the talks had been going on, with increasing intensity, almost since President Trump took office. And they had made significant progress by early 2019. By March the draft trade agreement had reached an impressive 150 single-spaced pages. In it, the Communist regime promised to abandon many of its predatory practices, from currency manipulation and the theft of intellectual property to the forced transfer of technology and its secret subsidies to its hi-tech companies.
Beijing even appeared ready to back these promised structural changes by agreeing to actual enforcement provisions similar to those imposed on North Korea. The draft called for heavy penalties to be imposed on Chinese companies, or levied on China itself if the agreement was violated.
The cable that arrived in Washington late on Friday, May 3 changed everything. The draft agreement had been gutted. section after section had been crossed out. Americans who saw it said that Beijing was reneging on nearly all the concessions it had made earlier.
Had China’s trade negotiators been acting in bad faith all along?
Perhaps. After all, Beijing has a long history of duplicitous behaviour.
But what if the real reason that China backtracked is named “Joe Biden.” The former vice president had just ended months of speculation over his political future by announcing he was running for president on April 25. The Chinese blew up the negotiations a few days later. Had they decided to run out the clock on President Trump’s first term, were they convinced that they would get a much better deal from a future President Biden?
Bidens son Hunter! gets a billion and a half dollars out of a Chinese deal, as President Trump says, and then they’re supposed to be tough on China?. Doesn’t work that way,”
“In 2013, then-Vice President Biden and his son Hunter flew aboard Air Force Two to China,” Schweizer wrote in a summary of his findings on FoxNews.com. “Ten days later, Hunter Biden’s firm scored a $1.5 billion deal with a subsidiary of the Chinese government’s Bank of China.”
Now, remember, Trump was not supposed to win the Presidential election, it was a surprise when he put himself forward. I would say that until the moment he came out and said he was running the Democrats thought they had a sure-fire winner in Clinton to carry on after Obama. It must have shocked both the Democrat party and the Chinese to find a real winner going for the Presidency. That also throws up an interesting theory, was Hillary Clinton in the pocket of China? Perhaps we should delve into what she had been up to with China.
Trump this week went onto say this
“We will look back for the last three and a half years — I’m the only one that ever took on China. And you saw the intelligence reports where they show China is working hard to get Biden elected. If he gets elected, China will own our country,
” Trump cautioned.
“I have taken billions and billions, tens of billions of dollars in taxes out of China. I gave them to our farmers because they targeted, wrongly, our farmers. They thought that would put pressure on me. They could get whatever they wanted, so they target us. And it’s no good.”
“China owns Joe Biden,”
Trump
“His son got a billion and a half dollars — his son with no experience, no brain power, no anything, never did it. Not only Ukraine — he got hundreds of thousands of dollars a month from Ukraine and the three million dollar upfront payment. And then with China, he walks out with a billion and a half dollars to manage — that means millions of dollars a year in fees.”
“By the way, they own Joe Biden. They own him,” he continued. “And they want me to lose so badly — probably only Iran would be in the case where they would rather have me to lose even more than China.”
Is Trump wrong?
Well, lets back up a tad, why would Biden take his son Hunter to China with him?
Why would China “Ten days later, give Hunter Biden’s firm a $1.5 billion deal with a subsidiary of the Chinese government’s Bank of China.”
And Joe Biden? Well, he’s on China’s side — not America
Despite the occasional box-checking, wishy-washy comment slapping Beijing on the wrist for the worst of its abuses, the reality is that the former vice president’s support of the People’s Republic of China is deep and longstanding. In the critical fight over whether to grant most-favoured-nation trade status and World Trade Organization membership to China in the 1990s — a fight in which, again, many of his party’s leaders in Congress were on the right side — Biden carefully shepherded China through the process from his powerful perch as the senior Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Wherever a brake might have been applied — by placing human-rights or labour conditions on most-favoured-nation status, for example — Biden voted the measures down and lobbied other senators for Beijing. Unfortunately, China and Biden got their way, and American workers are still suffering from it.
It should have been a warning on more fronts than one when President Obama recruited Biden to his ticket to buttress his credibility on foreign policy; unsurprisingly, there was no about-face on Beijing. As the Chinese Communist Party gained strength and Xi Jinping seized absolute power, Biden continued to push for closer ties and even more trade. As for American workers? In February 2012, in friendly remarks with Xi standing next to him, Biden praised Beijing as a “new partner” that would help to meet “global challenges,” and said Americans “welcome this competition. . . . It pushes our companies to develop better products and services and our government to craft better policies.” Millions of American jobs were disappearing as he spoke, and the militarization of the South China Sea was just around the corner.
While warmer ties with China were devastating American workers and threatening US national security, they have been very good for the Biden family. Reporters thought it unusual when Hunter Biden, Biden’s prodigal son, accompanied him on a trip to Beijing in 2013. That same year, Hunter joined the board of a Shanghai-based private equity firm. In 2017, a few months after his father left office, he invested a substantial chunk of his own money in the company $420,000. The question everyone should be asking is why would the Chinese Government entrust a bum like Bidens son with so much money? A more suspicious mind might think it was a nice thank you for what daddy has done for China and what they expect daddy to continue to do for China when he becomes President. (if he becomes President )
I don’t know what little Biden made off the deal, however, if you are trusted with 1.5 billion to invest the commission alone will keep you you in splendid luxury. I expect Hunter is doing better than laid-off workers in Arkansas or Delaware are.
